Mommy Math

Comments (12) Share

Sometimes moms speak their own language. It's not always translatable and sometimes downright confusing for non-moms. I wanted to take a step back on one of these and see it from the non-moms' eyes and ears. It concerns mom math, and I don't mean the blog about math education but the way we count our kids' age.

So true! I stuck with the whole month thing with Baby #1, but gave up on it with #2 after realizing no one else understood what I was talking about.

I can't believe how I labeled the backs of Child #1's photos. With months and days! I've enjoyed visited your blog. Very fun!

Hahaha :) Don't ever let my kids watch this video, my oldest two are 7 and they've never had a french fry in their life. Honest.

    You're hysterical!

Today on KGO radio, Dr. Dean Edell gave a plug to Daphne's new site. I'm glad he did. This site is awesome and funny.

Hopefully, there will be a spike in visitors to this site.

I remember Daphne as Dr. Dean's producer on his radio show and short-lived syndicated tv show about health issues.

The new producer, Heather is cool too, but there's only one Daphne.

If my boys didn't think they'd get beat up for it I swear they'd do this too. As it is, they quote their ages to the nearest eighth.

My middle child is seven and seven-eighths, and my oldest is… probably closer to ten and one-sixteenth, but who needs to go there, really?

Wait! You're THAT Daphne? I love it! I knew I could choose that name for my daughter because there weren't any Daphne's I didn't think were funny… Daphne Zuniga, Daphne on Dr. Dean's show, Daphne the laurel tree…

Wow…honey, no. You are *really* trying to force the funny. You have a daughter and you're blonde, but Dooce you are not.

Also, tell your publicist that comment spam on other blogs is not a smart way to drum up a solid readership.

First of all, somehow my comment ended up on this post, but it was actually supposed to be for the Food Fanatic Moms. It might make more sense in that context.

Second, wow Jill, that's mean! We all have something to contribute…I like Dooce's style but she's not the only funny woman in the world. Daphne has a style of her own from what I've seen on her site and I appreciate her for that!

Well, thank you Sarah. And to the Dr. Dean listeners who checked out the site. That show is still very dear to me.

Not that it doesn't sting, but Dean use to force me to read the "non" fan mail I would get. There is no way everyone is going to love you. REmember when a guy would stop calling? But, we had so much fun… Look how big Oprah is and some people hate her. Look at what Hillary Clinton just went through with the media dog piling on her even as she gained momentum. Sorry, guess this was my outside voice. :)

I just discovered you yesterday and LOVE you!! I can so relate to you with being a mom of a 162 mont old, 84 month old and a 15 month old, I think your videos are hilarious. I especially liked Vivien's facial expressions during this clip…too funny.

Daphne Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 at 8:19 pm

    Jennifer,
that's what we call in improv a "yes, and". Very funny. Thank you, thank you. Vivien is the star of the show. A natural improviser.
