Olympics

I have a theory on adults: whether married or single, pretty or ugly, rich or poor, we are all sitting on our couches alone watching TV. It is no wonder there are so many lonely isolated people in this world. With the Olympics, at least for two weeks I have an excuse to be a sloth.

Oh wait, the political conventions start soon. The sloth continues!

That was funny, I don't care who ya are!

I haven't watched any of the Olympics, until last night…. we are a BMX family and this is the 1st year of BMX competition and boy was I excited. Honeypickles was out play'n poker and my son actually went to bed on time (working on the back to school bedtime routine). I was in the living room yelling for our guys, clapping with excitement and almost in tears when our own Kyle Bennett crashed.

How exhilarating! But it was the last part of competitions aired and I didn't get to sleep until the wee hours. Luckily school hasn't started yet and my happy behind slept in this morning. Thank Goodness for the DVR…I'm sure we will re-watch a few times today.
    Cheers!

That's the Olympic spirit. Got on the treadmill today. Jesus, I'm out of shape!

I love the couch. Awesome. We have been looking for 2 years to replace the "family room" couch with something comfortable yet durable. Where did it come from? Microfiber? As comfortable as it looks?

Also love the loungewear. I think the artful, purposefully ripped sleeve is such an added touch. You're quite the stylish bon vivant! Let me guess, un Couture de la Maman original?

Lynne, you have a good eye! That sweatshirt was bought in my freshman year in college, so it was broken in just right, about 10 years ago. Other than my parents I think it represents my longest relationship.
Thanks for the props on the couch. I wanted to get a couch that is basically a bed since my stepson , Viv and I splay ourselves in a sleep like fashion in front of the TV. I ordered it from Room Service here in LA, they are also are in palm springs. http://www.roomservice-la.com/
not sure the fabric, but we haven't ruined it yet, and we have beat it up, milk spills, etc. Call the LA store and ask for Ronnie.

Ahh enjoy the freaking Olympics as I will be paying for it for a lifetime! Taking place in hometown of Vancouver, exciting. IF you are not facing paying for it for the next jabillion years, your city streets are closed down and commuting is HELLISH… Real estate prices pumped to the max, homeless people hurried into makeshift 'shelters' (pity they will no doubt be back on the streets in 3 weeks..)

OK, sorry! Being a downer.. Just in these economic times our province cannot afford this obscene spending for a two week event! My mom has it right, hold the darnn event in Greece every second year with each country contributing to upgrades dammit.

Heh, now whose the grumpy one?! (That would be ME :)

Watching it on TV is the close as I will come to it, just like you.. Hubby is a firefighter though on the Haz Mat team and will be on hand for the figure skating. Bastard will even get paid for it!

well, I'm more of a summer olympics gal. when it was in LA in '84 the city was never better. I think it is much harder to host post 9/11, more expensive.
