Political News
This makes me so sad, the sudden passing of Stephanie Tubbs- Jones. She was very gutsy out supporting Hillary Clinton in the primary, she was going to go to the Democratic convention and support Obama. Like my big, big favorite, Shelia Jackson -Lee, she stuck with Clinton even when other African American politicians fell away. In general there are not enough women in public office, what a shame to lose her, and at such a young age just 58.

Since we are talking politics… I've been spewing to anyone who will listen that Obama has lost the golden touch in the last month. As annoying as McCain's "I will follow (Bin laden) into the gates of hell" line is, he's gaining some steam with his sound bites. Obama has to many "um, you know, uh" long sentences. Hello, two terms of “W,” keep it simple!
My take is, Obama has already gotten all the people who are in love with him. That is how he got through the primary, but that well has been tapped. In order to win he has to get the "I Hate Bush" people. They include conservative Democrats, Moderates and even Republicans. He has to make this a referendum on Bush, not Obama. He also needs to keep running ads with McCain hugging Bush, and for God sake, get Hillary to coach him on the debates. If he wants to keep his professor thing going, fine, but get some zingers off! And be a fighter.

I never thought I'd say this… I want Hillary back. Anyone else hope that some scandalous story comes out about Obama? Oh please, say the Clintons have one last trick up the sleeve…
Shhh… don't tell my Rush Limbaugh loving husband. Did I mention that he doesn't like McCain, either? I call him McTrigger. I think that angry little squeaky voiced man is going to press the button way too quickly…
Yikes.
Like I said, Bring Hillary Back!!!
Sugar-McTrigger is a good nickname. Obama should use it. I know. I'm on board to vote for BO, if for no other reason the Supreme Court–oh and I think the GOP needs to be punished for giving us 8 years of Bush- But I always thought Hillary would be stronger in a general election.
The only Dems who have won the white house in the last what? 60 years have been Southerners, so maybe it was hopeless since the only Southerner running was Edwards. Not that would have been a disaster!
I always said Hillary was like the Grateful Dead, you had to see her in person. She was great.
Sugar, this backs up your nickname, from Joe Klein, Time:
In fact, Matt Welch made a convincing trigger-happy argument against McCain in Reason magazine — a libertarian publication — cataloging all the times over the past 20 years that McCain has overreacted to international crises, down to his recent ridiculous statement that the situation in Georgia was "the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War." After the past seven years, Americans are, rightfully, war-weary, and McCain is a candidate who can't seem to go a day without proclaiming a crisis somewhere that demands an American military reaction. Indeed, this should be the natural predicate for Obama's positive argument in this election: that we desperately need to get our act together at home.
Wow… that's pretty funny… "trigger-happy." Hmmm… And so true about the war weariness around here. Lots of guys are coming home to San Diego with the same fatigued look on their faces. I think it reflects how we are all feeling.
Sugar, my mom said she loved the don't "the Clintons have one last trick up their sleeve."? line.
I am GLUED to the tellie… just waiting… Hill's got a new group that is ticked. They are called P.U.M.A. Stands for Party Unity My A**. Nice.
Oh, yeah, they've actually been around for awhile. Because of my work for her out of state I'm on a few disgruntled email chains. It really goes beyond me though. As much as I wanted Hillary to win, and really believe she was the best one for the job, and for taking on the Republicans in the general I feel some need to get a grip. The supreme court alone people.
But, for sure any drama at the convention is just good fun.
