When someone goes I think everyone thinks that. God love you for taking care of her. I think it would be beyond me.

When my mom got cancer, I became her caregiver since I was the oldest kid and Dad was always at work. It's not easy work. And then when she passed, you can' t help but ask "Did I do enough?"
It's a hard balance for sure.

Well, thanks. I give my hat to the people who take care of relatives in their home. That's tough.

Taking notes is a very important thing for a caregiver to do, especially when dealing with health care professionals. Sometimes they don't even remember what they told you so somebody better have it written down to refer back to!

It is also great that you took care of yourself while your dad was in the hospital. Caregiving is much more stressful on the caregiver than the care receiver so it is always advisable when your dad is in a safe and stable place to make that the time to de-stress!

And it is UNACCEPTABLE for a bathroom to not be clean in an assisted living facility so if that is something that is happening frequently it needs to be addressed with the administrator or the director of nursing.
Hats off to you, caregiving is an important job and your dad is lucky to have you.
