I know the mom who started this and trust me, it falls into the funny ha-ha costume category, not the skanky baby category. I have a waaay bigger problem with the bikinis and high heels available in kid sizes at Target. A newborn wearing silly socks is silly and cute, a six year old in platform pumps is frightening!

ICK! i was shopping for some little girl shoes recently and saw the most eye-crossing clear-plastic-high-heeled stripper shoes sized down for a toddler. i can't even imagine why a parent would purchase something like this. it's just gross and weird. and those bikinis?? don't even get me started.
i'm with you on this one daphne!!

Huh, I have to say, I think of these as more silly than sexualized. I certainly wouldn't habitually dress my daughter in them, but strapping on a pair to take a photo is pretty harmless - like a costume, in my opinion. They're for kids who can't walk yet and are filled with fluff. Interesting point though - love the site.

Wow. I am very surprised these shoes were created by moms. I totally agree with you and think it's awful. They grow up fast enough - is this really necessary? Great post.

I agree. My daughter is only two, and my friend bought her a bikini to go swimming in our pool and I let her wear and took pictures .. then quickly deleted them and she has not worn it yet, because looking back at me was this sassy pre-teen and I couldn't deal.
She has some dress up clothes that don't leave the house, but putting your infant in high heels is just asking for trouble down the road. I mean, where to they go from there? How do they rebel when they are older if they have already had the bikini, the high heels, large earrings, and the belly shirts at a very young age. I'm gonna try to keep my baby small till she's 27.. haha

AMEN sister! I saw these on I think it was GMA and was appalled. I guess it's supposed to be funny. I feel the same way about the beauty contest babies in there satiny, frothy, iredescent dresses, fake "grills', hair extensions and make-up. I have 2 daughters and I refused to dress either like little tarted up adults.
