Pregnancy Cravings

Comments (7) Share
Has anyone in the history of pregnancy ever craved sardines and pickles? Or is that a "Flintstones" thing?
There are certain aversions I have (and had) and also certain cravings. I crave back rubs, baked goods, and hunky men… wait, maybe that's all the time.

I had a lot of cravings with my pregnancies. Bagels, popcorn, lime popsicles, kit kat bars. All 3 of my boys can smell bagels cooking and I have no choice but to share. :)

Hmmmm….you've got me trying to remember what I ate when pregnant…maybe there really is a connection!

I didn't crave much either. I wanted beans, eggs, cheese, stuff like that. But, as with you, I never *needed* it. There was this one time that I would have done anything for a McDonald's cheeseburger, and I went out in the pouring rain and sat in traffic and even had to go in to get it because I only had a credit card, but I got the thing. That was only once though, and I think it may have had more to do with the incredible hunger.

I would love to see how your hypothesis about cravings and baby personality works out - you MUST follow up on this one. I have the EXACT same situation - with my firstborn, who's headstrong and stubborn beyond description, I could not tolerate the smell of chicken, much less eat it, and I craved anything salty. Hotdogs, chips, etc. With number 2, nothing. I actually can forget for whole chunks of time that i'm pregnant. And I keep telling (deluding?) myself that maybe what it means is that #2 is going to be really easy-going and not cause me any of the same problems and heartache i got with # 1. So. . .i anxiously await your unscientifically unverifiable truth about this - you have until May to let me know. :-)

PS - hope you're getting some sleep, that you're recovering well, and that changing your family structure from you, Mark, and Viv to you, mark and "the kids" is as great a feeling as I expect to experience this summer.

Hi Daphne! I came across your site from momversation and have been enjoying your hilarious videos.

It seems like every time I'm pregnant (right now on my third) I crave really salty things like olives, popcorn, salted peanuts…not sure what that means. This pregnancy I've also been craving beets, which is something I don't normally eat. I generally go with what my body is craving(as long as it's not a shot of tequila or something).
