I hate driving. HATE. Especially with passengers. Because not only do I feel completely responsible for anything and everything that happens to them in my car while I drive, but also because I'm a really timid driver and that usually frustrates my passengers and then they whine and criticize, which makes me hate it that much more. I grew up in a more rural area where there weren't a lot of cars, but there were quite a number of accidents, usually involving fatalities and usually as the result of someone driving drunk. So now that I live in an urban area, I'm petrified of all my fellow drivers and what they may have had to drink with dinner. Driving sucks.

I think you are right. When I visit less congested areas driving does seem more fun. But, it's also the whole crying kid in the back seat thing that is a real pleasure killer.

I think that not liking driving has to do with where someone lives. I live in a small town in Wisconsin. NO traffic. You can drive from one end to the other end of town in 8 minutes. You can park right in front of where you're going. I know when I visit my in laws in La Jolla, I CANNOT stand to take the wheel. It literally makes me stroke out, like biggest aneurysm of your life head straight to the ER stroke. So, maybe driving aversion goes along with Big City Resident. Just a theory....
