  1. Oh, yeah, do I remember learning that lesson. I was sooooooooooo relaxed about germs, come on..bring em on..good for a child’s immune system, till my son almost dies of pneumonia at 9 mos old. Then, everyone, “wash your hands.”

My husband would come home from work (work..those were the good old days, huh?) and I’d practically hand him the surgical mask. “Wash your hands!” is the first thing my kids and husband hear when they walk in. Heck,it works!!

  2. This is my first child, but I’m pretty lax about the germs issue- so far, she’s been really healthy! Although if I were in your position with a little one in the ER, I would probably buy stock in the hand sanitizer! I really should get better about it, I guess I’ll pay my price when my daughter gets her first cold!

  3. Yeah, Zoe – our (now) 11 year old and Kid No. 3 – had the whole spinal tap thing at 10 days old. Freaked my butt out but fierce! Luckily, no meningitis. Just a cold – and bad timing, I guess.

Looking back, maybe we could have just smeared hand sanitizer all over her when we took her out of the hospital…?

  4. I understand what you are saying. We need to have a clean house. Use the sanitizer, keep your shoes off but I have to say that I was super clean w/ my first little boy and he was sick a whole lot. My second child, well i didn’t worry so much and he hasn’t been sick but with maybe pink-eye…and this came from a kid in the church nursery….uck. But I do still use the hand sanitizer and try to do my best at having it clean.
