Momversation: Are You Sick of Jon and Kate?

Comments (6) Share

This might seem funny since we are hearing more about Michael Jackson than the Gosselins, or the failure of the G-8 to agree on how to fight global warming, or the US journalists held in North Korea.  But as a rabid consumer of pop culture, I can't ever act too high and mighty. The momversation.com crowd weighs in on whether we have had a bit too much of the prolific people from Pennsylvania.

They may have been eclipsed for now, but did you think they were a bit oversaturated?

I am sick of J&K. I liked the show much better when Kate chased her kids in sweats and no makeup and said "this is what a real mom of 8 looks like." Made me feel not so bad about my own sweatpant habit. Now everytime we see her, she's tanned, makeuped and wearing high heels and a leather coat. I'm all for feeling good, but to me, that's not real life. I think they should quit the show- I can't watch it anymore, I just feel bad for them and the kids!

Kate, we could write a book on Kate. I feel like Kate sometimes. I think she says what we all think but DON'T say because it's not nice.

But Kate does it anyway, and THAT'S why people watched, the loved the fireworks. I, personally, had to quiet watching because I felt myself wincing at the things she'd say to Jon in front of the kids. I though, Oh, no, I cannot support this.
J&K, hate them or not, they are interesting sociological fodder.

yes and no it will be interesting to see if they are not selfish and during this divorce they are able to do what's best for the kids.

As a mom of twins this show initially interested me; seeing how they would deal with all of those babies.. Not a TV watcher but over the years caught up on them.

What is happening now gives me respect for Octo Mom for crying out loud. At least she won't be whoring out the kids EVERY week right?

    Just a sad situation.

I just watched this. I hadn't seen the edited version. I really enjoyed it. Lots of good bits from all.

hmm, respect for Octo mom.. I beg to differ.

Done and done. I think J&K are a perfect example of greed. They did the show, had some fame. They liked it. They got TONS of free stuff. Who wouldn't like that? But, when the show went from daily survival in a house of 8 kids to "let's pimp a dentist to get free teeth whitening", it became disgusting. A girlfriend of mine, who LOVED the show said last week, "I think they are the biggest prostitutes of all time." Yep. I agree. Nice house, great tummy tuck, nice cars, cool playhouses, TOTALLY DESTROYED family. Not such a good trade off.

Like the Momversation said, I feel sorry for those kids. Their daily life is on DVD for all time. Even if most of the world forgets about them, that has to be some major baggage to carry into adulthood.
