Goop

All toys scatter, but the toys that are suppose to cling together and don't, those are really a headache. Sadly, most of the cartoon channels out there have super cheesy commercials that make cheap, messy toys seem accessible. Today Vivien asked for a "huge cupcake maker." As I ran to the TV to turn it off saying, "No, and it won't do what it says."  She actually said,

"But, wait, there's more!"

Now, if it was a set of steak knives maybe we could negotiate.

Oh the Moon Sand. It was a woman with no children of her own that first gave us the Moon Sand. I had never seen it before.

We played with it all of two times.

A year later, what is left of it is up in the closet on the high shelf. I will toss it when my daughter is not looking…

there was something like rice krispies in day glo my sister in law brought Vivien once. An hour later sister in law was apologizing as I gathered up the clumps around the house. they seem like a good idea at the time.
yes, invented by someone and not kid tested

My 4yr old daughter has discovered infomercials of late. She keeps asking for the 'Touch and Brush' and the other day out of the blue she says, "You know Mom, they have 'Shoes Under'" She's an adman's dream!

I'm making the Pillow Pal for Ju Ju….just $19.95 plus S/H…it'll cost me all of $6!
Ever since she started watching tv with us (Seinfeld, Funny Home Videos, news) we've told her "Commercials are dumb." Now she says it back with the added, "All they want is my money!" She'll grow up to be a savvy consumer, an adman's worst nightmare!
Does Vivien watch any tv with you and Daddy? I'm curious.

I blame Nickelodeon, they show weirdly innappropriate commercials. My daughter is begging me to get an "InStyler," as it curls without burning or something. Also begged for the upside down tomato plant? And can tell me why OxiClean is good. (?)

I did cave and get Bendaroos but bought them at Bed Bath and Beyond. They are harmless. Moon sand is truly evil and so is Goop. Both are outlawed here.

Playdoh sometimes ruins my life. Just when I think I have all of it out of the carpet, I find another patch.

she will watch Ugly Betty with me. And sometimes movies with her older brother and dad as I run in the room saying, "is this too scary?" Wish she watched more of "my" shows. But, she talks during Hardball.

yes, very odd commercials on the kid channels.

Cracks me up…why they have those weird commercials for like "Bumpits" and the "soda can bottle maker" on QUBO. My 7 yr old wants a dozen of those for Xmas.

So glad that I'm not the only mom who HATES things like that. Hated play-dough when the kiddos were younger. It was not allowed. They could play it at school and church. We got the Moon Sand as a gift as well. WTH is that stuff about??!!

In my defense though, I will let them have at it outside. They paint on the driveway, sidewalk chalk, all that fun stuff that I can just spray away with a hose. It's inside the house that I can't deal with.

I also was that mean mom who didn't and still doesn't allow her kids to have balloons. Choking hazard? Nope, because I can't tolerate the chaos that surrounds those blasted things and I always end up popping them after 5 minutes. If they ever happen to get them at the store or a restaurant, I tell them to make a wish and let them go before we get in the car. Not too great for the environment, but it's a better option than a psychotic mama behind the wheel.

I guess I'm just a mean old party pooper.
