I have a frighteningly long list of shows that I get excited to see in my Tivo. At present, they are, in no particular order:
Glee - clever, funny, and 100% entertaining
Modern Family - pee your pants hilarious, fab ensemble cast
The Mentalist/Medium/Flashforward/Fringe - these are my "cop show"/Scie-Fi genre of program. I love them all. I hear ya, Daphne, on Simon Baker's "schtick" -- but I think the show's appeal is his modern-day sherlock holmesiness.
The Good Wife - first rate drama - loving marguiles in this role, and Mr. Big is doing great work as a sleazy pol
Nurse Jackie/Mercy - interesting medical dramas that are strangely similar, but I like them both.
Eastwick - love love love this one
The Office/30 Rock - solid performers in the hilarious comedy genre
Brothers and Sisters/Desperate Housewives - good juicy "people magazine" type feeling dramas.
Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice/House - good medical dramas
2 and a Half Men/How I met your Mother/Old Christine/Cougar Town - sometimes funny, sometimes stupid filler I'll watch when nothing else is on
Project Runway - one of my favorite "reality" shows
Other shows I watch, that are on hiatus:
Mad Men - one of my all time favorites
Lost - unbelievable drama
Dollhouse - a little cheesy, but very entertaining
Chuck - totally funny and entertaining spy show
American Idol - can't really explain the attraction, but there you have it
Big Love
United STates of Tara - amazingly funny, insightful drama starring Toni Collette as a multiple personalitied wife, sister and suburban PTA mom.
In Treatment - Byrne is just sexy

Wow - maybe i need an intervention. That's a lot of tv.

I have to hop on the Glee bandwagon, too. It's one of the rare shows that actually lives up to its hype.

It's a few years older show but still great (and surprisingly, still quite topical)- the West Wing. I started TiVoing episodes for my nursing sessions and I'm hooked! Bravo shows back to back episodes twice daily, so I've watched almost the entire series since my son was born. Love it.

I have to say, with the exception of Glee, I don't want to watch new shows. I get attached and then they get canceled (Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip).

NOTE FROM DAPHNE: loved west wing. I thought Studio 60 tried to have the same urgency and drama as west wing, but with lower stakes and that blonde girl with the lisp who read cold it didn't work for me.

With you on The Good Wife.

With other commenters on Glee. Jane Lynch is hysterical.

Grumpy at NBC for not yet bringing back their ER replacement Southland, the cop drama they showed six episodes of at the end of last season.

Eagerly awaiting new season of Big Love (HBO). NOTE FROM DAPHNE yes, love it too. missed last season when we cut HBO for $ reasons, but now have it back.

Hoping for another season of Hung (HBO). NOTE: I like it too. Still haven't seen all of this year. My brother in law edited the pilot.

Obsessed with, shame shame shame, The Biggest Loser. For some, it's junk food that gets them. For me, it's junk TV.

i have heard about breaking bad. I like that actor. Dexter is too dark for me. The mentalist kind of cracked me up because I thought his mental shtick wasn't that compelling, but the characters act like it is. but, that guy is a honey.

See, we even like the same television programs!

When Mad Men takes it's seasonal nap, try picking up on the very dark dramedy Breaking Bad. It's terrific. And also on the very dark side, Dexter, which has yet to make an appearance this year. I also enjoy The Mentalist.

Now if I could only stay awake for the end of the shows....

I have tivoed two Glee's and haven't watched them yet. I expect to love them as I think Jane Lynch is so funny.
Arrested Development was good. Did you see Jason Batemen's movie, "Extract"? had some of the same feel.

I'm with you. I stumbled into Castle and The Good Wife and like them both, esp. Castle. Oh I have always like that Nathan Fillion (but I can never remember his name)
I will check out the others now that I have a heads up.
I must admit that I love me some Glee. It's just edgy enough not to be corny and being a lover of the musical...it's a great escape show for me.

It's not on TV anymore, but you can rent the DVDs, I absolutely loved watching Arrested Development. One of the best shows of all time hands down!
