momversation: parenting advice

In this Momversation I just wanted throw my arms around that cute Giyen.  She is struggling being a motherless mother to a teenage daughter.  I rely on my mom a lot, so I think that would be hard.  But, she is asking the moms out there, “do you ask your friends or parents for parenting advice?”  I shot this on my vacation in Palm Springs, so I was relaxed, happy, sun kissed and in an echoey bathroom.

  1. I think if one has a good relationship with their mother that it is natural to go to her for advice, especially parenting. I rarely “ask” for my mom’s advice but I do talk with her about things and bounce idea’s off her. I mainly go to friends when asking for actual advice and that’s because they have kids similar in ages and I feel I can get a better answer from them.

However, my kids are still kids… no teenagers in this household yet (or any time soon). My mom and I had a difficult relationship when I was a teenager so whatever she is getting from her kid.. probably normal!

  2. I liked this Momversation.

I’m actually like you, Daphne; I observe others and then I go yay or nay.

I do ask my mom for advice although not all the time. She and I have VERY different views in some things (especially when religion is concerned) so on many things I just rely on myself, parenting books and my friends (and mommy bloggers like Daphne..tee hee)

I do have to admit my mom has been a breath of fresh air many times and have “saved” me from starting the “mommy guilt” early on..hehe.

Anyway, I liked this topic. :)
