Beautiful Mom

There is much in the media about mom’s being competitive.  I think it is overstated. I can see when someone is richer, smart, thinner than me and maybe if I was younger I would try to trump them.  Now, it’s like, oh, wish I was thin, rich, whatever.  But, here I am.  And sometimes a mom rises above the crowd, not in a bad way, but in a way you have to admire.

  1. Oh Daphne, thanks for giving me something to look forward to when my daughter starts preschool! LOL

I have had similar experiences at the park, music class, and indoor playgrounds…I’m like, “I need to be her friend! Somehow!!” LOL

Anyway, I do have to say, sometimes I’m THAT mom (the all put-together one). Don’t judge me though, it’s a cultural thing (I’m Puerto Rican) and my mom wouldn’t be caught dead at the grocery store unless she was all made up and dressed to the nine’s, so I learned it from her. Even so, my mom still outdoes me by more than a mile so I’m not always all put together and perfumed.

    Loved this topic!

  2. We live in The Woodlands, TX and ALL THE MOMS ARE LIKE THIS!!! Always beautifully put together skinny as all get out and here I am in my grandmother’s coat, unwashed hair, bags under my eyes and all resentful..
Glad to know I’m not the only one.
Once in awhile I AM that mom that everyone stares at…and to be honest.. it freaks me out. When you’re up so high people don’t approach you and say hello and befriend you. When you look like the rest of the moms, they open the door for you, smile coo at your little one and it’s more fun………
