ADVERTISEMENT: Simply Fruit

Comments (6) Share

I know this is a sponsored vid and all, but seriously, Vivien loves the simply fruit rolls.  Rex loves eating detergent that falls on the floor by the washer, but I'm not touting that (please, I stop him when he starts to dig in).

It's not she doesn't like fruit as well.  Both my kids will eat whole fruit no problem. But, its nice to have different things in the snack arsenal…

That's what this campaign has been about for me.  Just thinking of a few things to keep them (or you) going so we all don't get to cranky and get a little energy boost.

I'm giving away another General Mills lunch care package. All you have to do is submit a comment with your tips/advice for being a conscious snacker. Have you had to change up your snacking? What works for you? The winner will be announced on Friday, July 16th at 5pm PST.

When I was a kid, we would roll them around our index finger and suck on them - sounds border-line sexual now. Probably not a good tip to pass along to Vivien :)

I recently started making fruit kabobs after a request from the four year old. I think this is great for fruits or raw veggies.

What works for us is using the teeny tiny play doh cutter shapes, and cutting out their whole wheat bread, and fruits in little dinosaurs and things like that.

They used to love getting a baggie full of small star shaped melon.

Conscious snacking for us is most successful when we can sneak a protein in. Sliced apples or pretzel sticks dipped in peanut butter, melted cheese with grilled chicken on tortilla chips, we try to aim for low carb because one of my children is diabetic.

A conscious snacking revolution would include more low carb snacks (15g or less). Sugar in high doses stresses the pancreas, which is something we don't normally think about with all the convenience offered to us these days.

My favorite "conscious snack" is dried craberries and almonds. Yum! Come to think of it, a fruit roll up would go great with a handfuls of nuts!
