Yes, you look crazy, but that's WHY IT"S HILARIOUS. One of my favorite posts in a while (dark toast was pretty brilliant too...I can totally relate to the mommy tantrum) I hate pinatas for the crazy post-candy drop atmosphere that ensues -- my daughter gets really overwhelmed by that kind of closeness/crowding, and I always have to rescue her from the "scrum" (perfect word) and, oh yes, at the same time make sure that she gets some candy -- not much different from the Easter egg hunt that she can't stand having to race to go find eggs for...she gets paralyzed by the idea that she's MISSING EVERYTHING but she doesn't really want to go throw elbows to get any. Maybe that means she's not destined for competitive greatness, but I like to think it means she is compassionate, empathetic, "sensitive." :) World still needs some of those folk, I think..... For months we put a bib on the baby, tell them not to touch the bowl or the spoon b/c mommy's doing the feeding, we have a stack of baby wipes next to the high chair...and then the one year birthday comes and we ACTUALLY tell the kid, "It's ok!!! Get all messy!!! It's fun!!!" I have a video of my daughter with the most hilariously confused face EVER at her one year old b-day party when I told her that it was ok to rub all that buttercream in her face!!! LOL HAHAHA
