Sparkly Shoes

Do you ever think: I have got to get these kids out of this house!  Now that Vivien is in school, big girl school, I don’t want her time with me to just be the window between school and dinner.  There are some afternoons of cartoon watching, but wouldn’t it be nice to go elsewhere and see different topography of LA?  So, this is Cool Mom on location.  It was a nice day by the beach.  I loved it and while my kids ambled about, I reflected on the trends that little girls go through.

  1. …I try to limit the stuff my kid gets to pick out by not letting her know there are very many options. :) Sorry, only canvas pink sneakers or blue athletic shoes are being sold here! Which pair would you like?

  2. *laughing* I know all about the shoes! My daughter went through a phase where she REFUSED to wear any shoes (except one pair of boots that looked like Mommy’s) that didn’t “go BOOM” (her explanation of how they flashed when she stomped her feet)! So we had about a year worth of going from store to store, trying to find ‘boom’ shoes, and snagging every size we could when we finally found them. Of course, by the time she could fit into the new sizes, there were new flashie shoes out there she wanted more. WHY do they have to charge $49 for a pair of shoes that a child can only wear for six months?!? And why on earth do we actually give in & pay for them?
(Okay, it was only once, and I had a coupon, but still… )
At any rate, we traded LOTS of flashie shoes for dress up clothes with the neighbor kids that year.
