I don’t care who you are or what you do; at some point, everyone wants to step away from their work for ten minutes and get a coffee. The stay-at-home parent, or as I think of myself presently, the underemployed parent, doesn’t get to do that. My “coffee break,” if I do get one, usually takes the form of a few minutes on the computer to mind surf. Forget going to the bathroom, they find you there.
Ironically, I shot this bit about this issue at the end of the day when I was so fried I couldn’t remember what my bit was. More of a true slice of life than most of my vids.
Hug.
I forget how much of a handful those toddlers are with their endless energy. You definitely have the right to feel all run-down at the end of a day.
Think of it less like underemployed, and more like strengthening your acting chops as you grow bigger and bigger on the web. Btw, did you hear Pioneer Woman will have her own show on Food Network? And Dooce with her HGTV.
How annoying.

they really do find you everywhere, don’t they?!? i never thought going to the bathroom would be the least private part of my day. it is. and the shower. “let’s keep the shower door shut, mommy’s getting cold!”
it’s true that the only time you can escape for a few minutes (meaning 1.5 minutes) is when you put on a show. and even then, the 2 year old will find you after zoning out for a good 30 seconds.
love those kids!
I have a bathroom in our house far away from where they usually play. I know that if I need a few minutes to myself, I can run to that bathroom, and I’ll have at least 3 minutes to myself until they can catch up with me! Not ideal, but a break is a break!
That made me laugh
My only “free” time is the 2-hour afternoon nap time, which goes by too fast. I let my son sit on my desk and make a mess with all the papers. Gives me a couple minutes to type up an email.
