Preschool anxiety time… not for Rex. For me. Mommy separation issues. Not for Rex. For me.
Rex has graduated to going to pre school two times a week from 8:45 to noon. He could have done 3 days a week, but I decided against it. He is my last baby and I wanted him a little longer. I mean look at him! I know I’m biased, but it can be hard to be away from that little guy.

Now, the school, which I like, is asking if we would like to have Rex stay for lunch. So his day would be two days a week till 1pm. My first thought: HELL NO.
Too long of a day for my not quite 3 year old.
Now, are kids who are in day care all fine? Sure. In the abstract. But, for my little little cherub?

Me: Vivien only went to school till noon when she was his age
Mark: but she went 5 days a week
Me: oh, yeah.
Me: It’s going to cost more.
Mark: it will cost 10 dollars.
But, won’t he be so tired? I think when I pick him up he will be face down on the lunch table snoring.
Now as a mature parent in control of her small children’s life I did the sound thing. I asked the 35 month old what he wanted to do.

I got a nod to “would you like to stay longer and have lunch with your friends?”
Sigh, guess we will try that… but not till next week.
How long is the right time in pre school?
cutest little guy. i’d keep him at home too
I’m an old softy, I say whatever feels right for you and Rex. I say childhood is too short as it is….enjoy your baby! We did preschool M,W,F, 3 hrs a day, with an optional ‘lunch bunch’ extra hour on Wed.
Also, w/ a 22yr old, 19yr old and a 6yr old, I must say I do not regret any of the extra time spent w/ them when they were little.
When you pick him up at noon is he tired or does he seem ready for more? If he seems like he’s got the energy why not try it and see how it goes?
I admire your desire to keep him at home longer. Whenever my two year old is home, I get exhausted from coming up with a whole day of activities or taking him to the playground. Otherwise, he gets bored and crazy. His preschool day is 9-12, and I wish we had the option for JUST an hour or two more.
well, there is that. I would get more done. It is nice to shower.
Toni, good question– he seems like he is having fun,but he is glad I’m there. hmm
I am agree with Kristie, Whatever feels right for You and Rex !
I’d go with just asking Rex, he seems extremely smart.
