I don’t often interview folks here on Coolmom. But, if someone is going to talk about crusty, bloody nipples, I’m in! I don’t interview many people mostly, because they don’t appear in my kitchen. If they did I would interview lots of people. But, recently a PR gal asked if I wanted to interview Sara Chana, “international board-certified lactation consultant, birthing instructor, classical homeopath and herbalist can guide your viewers from adolescence, through pregnancy and childbirth on to menopause.” Well, that’s a lot to cover and since I don’t like any video that goes on longer than 2.5 minutes I would most like to talk lactation. Sara, is also the mother of 7.
Would she appear in my kitchen? No, but she could appear at her PR gal’s office blocks from Rex’s pre school. So, before pick up I threw the tripod and my Z18 kodak camera and off I went. We talked on the roof, and we were back lit and I didn’t bring my clamp for my camera light! But, next time I try to be coolmom reporter I’ll do better.
Meanwhile, check out the energetic Sara telling me something about lactation I didn’t know. Which is something as I nursed both of my kids past two years.

Now… where was THIS when I needed it?! I had terrible problems breastfeeding!! We finally got the hang of it at the 4 month mark, but man that was rough!!!
Great information, Sara Chana! Most new mothers have pain because they don’t know this. Thank you for this video.
I absolutely ADORE Sara Chana!!!
Not only is she all you described above, she’s a great friend, an excellent cook and someone you can turn to for nearly everything!
fasinating!
She taught me ram with my 1st kid and I now am using it on my 6th too. I teach it to other new moms. thanks Sara Chana. you are awesome
I LOVE Sara Chana!!! she taught me me everything i know about nursing with my 1st child and she help me breastfeed my preemie even after i lost my milk because he was in the NICU for so long.
i couldnt have done it without her!
Great info but waaay too short! 2.5 minutes is NOT enough time to learn how to get a good latch. Looking for to seeing much more of these entrees.
Hi Daphne,
We’ll see you soon. Still miss you guys over here. The block isn’t the same without you.
Great interview. I never expected you and Sara Chana to meet. Did you know that she actually delivered my second baby?!? One talented lady
very informative…sarah chana is one of the most knowledgable people I have ever met in my life…she helped me out with lactation and in so many other ways as well…she is a talented brilliant woman…I am very thankful to know her!
Great Interview!
Great interview. Do more of these, You are a terrific
interviewer.
Sara Chana is the best!!! In addition to the ALL the great things she can talk about, she guided me through what to have in my cabinet, to be able to deal with anything. We have a great Doctor for me kids and he knows that I will check in with Sara Chana and she has never steered me wrong!!
wow, love the reaction. Was trying something different. Next time she comes to town we will do another one.
Esther–that is a trip! small world.
WHERE WAS SHE WHEN I NEEDED HER!!!?? I gave up after a few months of hell. Why is there an illusion that breast feeding just comes naturally to both mother and child. It may be natural, but it certainly doesn’t come naturally! Great interview.
Wish someone would have told me this logical, amazing and IMPOTANT information when I was nursing my kids I even had twins to boot! After hearing this interview I realize that I NEVER have nursed properly! Bloody, cut , aching breasts were the call of the hour, so I thought, when I courageously continued to nurse my babies against all odds.
Thank you for this info and being so accessible to all on the net. Will pass info onto my daughters, daughters-in-law, and friends.
TAHNKS FOR BEING THERE!
Great informative interview! This technique REALLY works. Your clear explanations and hands on demos helped my daughters to enjoy their nursing experience and NEVER get a breast infection. AMAZING! Thank you for being so devoted and caring to all.
Great interview and so informative!! Thank you Sarah Chana for teaching me this technique when my baby was causing me excruciating pain because she wasnt latched properly. If not for you, I’d probably give up breast feeding! I am so grateful for this and for everything else you’ve helped us through! Would love to see more interviews!!
Love the interview…Thank You!
The best type of interview: “hands on” on a subject that is difficult to figure out from a book. Finally a down to earth explanation of the if and but of nursing. She really make you “understand” nursing dynamic with a language and scenario we can all relate to! (And not many doctor are really very experienced at and so verbally skilled to explain). Super usefull. Thanks!
How fascinating and logical! We need more information like this! Thank you Daphne for this wonderful and informative interview! Hope to have more soon!
