Step parenting is like…

I have recently been socializing with other step parents.  I hear and can share their frustrations.  Step parenting is like being the District of Columbia.  You pay taxes, but don’t get a vote.

In my recent read about Lincoln I discovered that he would NEVER have been the great man he became were it not for his stepmom.  His mom died when he was young, his dad was a simple, uneducated man.  Yet, he snagged a nice lady for his second wife who found Abe was practically feral when she entered his life.

put a dress on him and Daniel Day Lewis could play her as well

She got him educated, believed in him and, literally, the rest is history.

So, there would have been no emancipation proclamation without a step mother!!

Anyway, good time for a best of Cool Mom.  A visit from my mom about this subject. ( note, lil Vivien is 2, in the house I had to sell, pre Rex.  I got crap that I let her use a bottle, ah, kiss off)

  1. Hi Daphne
I was also a step mom to my first husbands beautiful daughter. I met her when she was 2.5 years old and was her step-monster as she jokingly call me until her death from kidney failure at 24. It was often challenging because of both her mother and father. When she grew up she told me how much I influenced her in a positive way (and I thought she wasn’t listening!) and that she wouldn’t be the woman she was if it hadn’t been for me. I was so surprised to hear that and really touched. She’s been gone 15 years this past March 15 and still miss her terribly. I know you are a great step-mom. Thanks for the posting on this subject.

  2. love the “classics” from the early days on this site. especially the vids with your mom!

i was really happy to be able to tell my step mom (from age 8) that she was not a “step monster” and that the distance between me and my father was all his doing, not hers. i love telling my kids that she’s my bonus mom.

  4. I have to voice my passion for your kdneniss supporting men who must have assistance with this one area of interest. Your very own dedication to getting the solution around turned out to be surprisingly functional and have without exception permitted those much like me to reach their targets. Your informative facts indicates a whole lot to me and substantially more to my fellow workers. Thanks a ton; from everyone of us.

  6. One of the cheap QWERTY phone from Nokia…one of my friend has this and i found its really great. He has a white coloured one which really makes it feel like a phone cost around 10k or so…One of the main thing i found is the camera part. They could have installed a 2MP camera atleat.. Nice review bro

  8. Teaching babies to sign is a great way to establish early communication. It helps with frustation for both baby and parent. Babies R Us rocks- they have the best selection of items!penguinchick@comcast.net
